Some of us may think that this is the beginning of the end, because of all the major catastrophes and economic changes we are going through. But if you ask the “real poor people”, that live in a remote area without electricity, without water that we call drinkable water, electronics, heating, cooling, and communication systems, etc. if you tell them that this is the beginning of the end, what do you think they will say? I tell you, they will probably look at you and say WHAT? They will not think you are crazy, they will think you are stupid! Why? Because they never had the things you are talking about. They don’t need “them”. They wouldn’t even know what to do with those things. In our society if we don’t have those things, we won’t be able to survive, because physically we are so weak. And if we want to speak about faith, don’t even mention it, for we have little or no faith at all!
When we say America the Dream, we may have the understanding that we are speaking about all the riches we find in this magnificent land. The opportunities we have to become whatever we want to be. But let’s not forget that for some of us that come from other places what the dream means is the freedom to express our feelings and be who we really are. And for those that may have forgotten this, please remember where you come from. Remember your dream and treat this place as you should with respect and honor. Be grateful to God for having this chance that you can only find in America. For none of this would have been possible without faith in God.
Many have made the journey to America in the belief that they could make a better life for themselves and their families. America has been our dream. America holds a promise to the world for something better. We have been given so much in America. With this gift of abundance comes the obligation to be good stewards of God’s generosity to us. We have a tremendous duty to share what we have with the rest of God’s children (meaning our actions).
Let’s not forget why we left our homes and came to America – we came to share in the dream that many others have shared. The dream has been freedom, opportunity, peace and being able to freely express our love for God. Unfortunately we have taken others lives for us to be able to settle here, the Indians for example. However on many occasions they have welcomed us. We cannot forget that others will still come here. They are looking for the same dream that we enjoy. Let’s not take it away from them as we ourselves may loose the blessings we enjoy from God. Remember that others’ kingdoms have fallen when the people were oppressed. We certainly do not want this to happen to us. So as we all here share in what God has given us, we in return should be willing to share it with others.
When people were oppressed, kingdoms have fallen!
Let’s remember that America has nothing more than any other country. Our land is fertile as any in the world. What really makes us a desirable place to live in? It is the people, our society! It is for that very reason that many want to come here. We have created a society with freedom and opportunities instituted by our founding fathers. America has become a powerful nation because of its generosity and compassion. America is willing to help others and make the world a better place for all of us to live in. It doesn’t matter where you come from. Anyone that lives here has found this to be the best place to live. The freedom and opportunities are for all. Those of us that have been born here fail to realize at times what we have. We have not experienced the conditions that others must go through on daily basis to exist. People risk they own lives to be here. They give all their possessions and leave their families to come here. In America, people have the freedom to express their ideas without the threat of being punished. We in the United States have great freedoms. But if we continue on the present course we may eliminate the very things that in the past people have come here to enjoy.
