The synopsis of `NEWSHAWK
Dexter Barren’s father is a former army Chaplin who served in the Second World War. After the war he continued life as a missionary. His family of three sons and a daughter travel with him to several countries. Dexter his second son is quick to learn languages, and become a very proficient linguist.
This story is told in the first person and starts in Dexter Barren’s childhood though to his teenage and continues onward to his adulthood. He makes a choice of career from three alternatives; The Church, Professional football or journalism. He chooses the later.
Attended his older brothers wedding before he marries his own teenage sweetheart an Anglo Filipino when he is 17 in a joint wedding with his sister. Dexter has two children son Aqyza destined to following in his father’s footsteps as a journalist and the daughter Linda who realized her ambition to be an actress.
Being a News Correspondent visits several countries. Women find him ultra attractive and have designs on his body and his lack of self-control is exposed.
Locations in the UK include Colchester, Halstead, and Hempstead all in Essex. Borehamwood, Elstree in Hertfordshire and parts of North London, Bournemouth, Devon, Manchester and Leeds. In Scotland; Bathgate Glasgow, Inverness and Wick, Overseas in Ghana, South Africa,, The Congo, India, Columbia, Canada, USA, The Philippines Etc.
He has two mistresses.
The Scottish actress Penny he met on a snowbound train and becomes a family friend and helps his daughter Linda in her acting career, Later Penny marries him after the shocking death of his wife Yvonne.
The Indian lady Usher born in the UK he met on her way to marry her 80-year-old fiancé in an arranged marriage. The marriage is without love and after her husband dies becomes a rich woman and returns to the UK to start her own boutiques.
Whilst doing his National service in the RAF is a reluctant advocate for a man who has gouged the face of a soldier. Rescues a squire from robbers, saves a man’s life when he has a heart attack in his tractor. Almost killed by a sniper in Angola, kills a man in Africa, observes carnage in India, a shooting in Glasgow, kidnapped in Columbia, plus many more exciting incidents to enthral you, including many erotic sexual encounters.
There is a unique twist in this novel, so you are advised to read it from start to finish to fully appreciate the impact that will continue to mesmerise you long after you have finished reading it.

About the Author
The Author David Johns was a war baby born in London in 1942. A sports journalist for several newspapers from 1971 to1989.. He is the former Editor of the Essex and Suffolk Herald, the London Insider’s guides and the Tried and Trusted. Currently webmaster of www.triedandtrusteduk.com He has had published in the UK over 100 short stories and essays and the Novel David Johns Merger published in the USA in January 2010. He is now based in Borehamwood with both his daughters and a grandson living in East Anglia.
A film company in the UK are in negotiations for his film script Cross and Star` which he co wrote with Roma Zite in 1994
His next book to be published soon is a compilation of his short novels, stories and plays
