Anticipation pervades Dominating the imagination Singularly focused And intent On willing it into being... Hoping beyond hope And fervently praying, Enticing, seducing, serendipity Will it happen today? You wonder All the while Remaining busy encouraging The time to elapse And instinctively knowing That time is not easily Influenced For time Is its own master And the keeper Of its own pace Nevertheless... Eagerness transcends me And fulfillment propels me Into a sublime State of keen awareness... And as the clock chimes And the phone rings I still find myself Waiting...
