Dreamwalker

Only half of his mouth was curled up, his head was cocked sideways, like a wave, crashing down over the beach it hit me, of course, that this Kenny was so unfamiliar, I knew.  This was not Kenny.  A feeling of calm came over me, then as instant as the calm, the fear came, and the realization was, if this was not Kenny then who was it.  I tried to get out of bed but I was held there, not by hands or bonds of any kind that I could describe, just a weight, a weight that I could not lift.  My body would not move, I just lay there, it felt as though I had lost all control over my limbs, I was really afraid now, I could not move.  With every bit of energy, I thought hard, arms and legs MOVE!  My heart began to race; it was pounding so hard, it sounded like the big base drum from a marching band beating deep within my chest.  It was loud, louder that the destructive freight train of a tornado whirling past you carrying a house and maybe a car or two and I still couldn’t move.  The shutters were banging louder against the house rattling the windows.  My breathing, by this time, had become extremely labored, as I struggled to bring air into my lungs, the smile on the Kenny’s face grew, the fact that I couldn’t move, that I couldn’t breathe, seemed to please him immensely and it showed on his face.  It didn’t please me, in fact, I was scared out of my mind, it seemed as if the more I tried to move the harder it became, and the more I struggled for each breath, the wider the grin showed on the ghostly Kenny’s face.  I began to hear a horse whisper, I noticed Kenny had begun to try to speak again, but this time I was hearing this little hoarse whisper of a sound that peaked my fear, I could actually make out what he was saying, at least to a point.  I struggled to hear what he was saying over the beating of my heart, over the rattling windows, the shutters banging against the house, I heard him, I heard it, did he say, “Iiiiiii’m goooooiiiiiiinnnng toooo geeeeet yyyyyyyyyyyoooooooouuuuuuuu!” He repeated this over and over again.  Just when I thought, the fear had completely enveloped me and my screams continued to go unnoticed throughout the rest of the house.  My limbs started to move, struggling harder as the fear of what was going to happen to me entered my brain.
