As Mary and Pathagorus spoke to each other in the dwindling light, the shadow crept closer and closer. He stepped ever so gently, keeping his oversized feet on the moss so he could not be heard. Most of the faeries had gone to bed and he had watched many of them climb into their burrows, fly to their nests and pop into their underground holes. They would be easy to find later and he was ever so patient.
He clinched his jaw and tightened his lips to keep from drooling, for faeries were the sweetest meat of all and there were……sooo many.
His gaze turned to Pathagorus and the hatred he felt for that old, dilapidated dwarf grew inside his heart like a watermelon seed. He was determined to dispose of Pathagorus with his bare hands before the faeries could be warned, for surely they would take flight. Thinking of the tasty treats awaiting him (and wiping the drool from his chin), the shadow scurried back through the trees and jumped the stone fence. He could hardly wait until the morrow.

A wise old gnome gathers a cluster of faeries into his heart and hides them in an enchanted forest to protect them from the evils of the world that would destroy them. There, they share their joys and woes and meet Mary, a lost human child who has many secrets.
About the Author
Judith L. Walley and Virginia T. Faith have been friends for more than forty-five years. They have raised their children together and share their triumphs and failures throughout their friendship. It was only natural that these two woman would, in the golden years of their lives, merge their talents to create this story, with the promise of more to come.
Onna J. Spohn is the mother of three grown boys. She is a Registered Nurse, a talented poet and a newly discovered sketch artist. She admires nature in full bloom and enjoys re-creating her version of gardens, insects, butterflies and blossoms. It was quite unexpected of her to throw in a faery or two.
Thus Faerywood was born.
