In one of my five year old expeditions, I ended up walking down the railroad tracks that ran beside the Rideau Canal by Union Station and found a half-dead pigeon that had been hit by a train. It’s wing was broken and it was bleeding. I picked it up and held it close to my chest and calmed it down as it resisted me a bit at first. Then I walked it home (about 12 blocks). It bled a lot on my jacket but by the time I got home my Mom went into nurse mode and stopped the bleeding, put a splint and make shift cast on the broken wing. I named the pigeon “Goo Goo” because that what she said constantly. She had a new home in a cardboard box in the kitchen.
After a few weeks of constant feeding and watering Goo Goo regained her strength and started testing her healed wing. Mom took off the cast and let her try her flapping unrestrained. She was better. My Mom said you realize she’s not a pet and you’ll have to let her go now and go back to her kind, Leslie. She said take her outside now and see if she’s well enough to return to Nature.
I took Goo Goo out in the back yard and held her in my hands not really wanting to let her go. Eventually I opened my cupped hands and said: “ Go Goo Goo, go!!”
When she realized I had let her go, she flapped her wings a couple of times, then stood up on her feet and flew out of my hands. She flew well and went in ever increasing circles around the backyard, eventually flying away for good. I said:” Goodbye, Goo Goo!!”

About the Book
Adpoted at Age four tracks the life of a four year old that had been shunted around foster homes for the first four years of his life. In and out of the orphanage everytime returning in poorer health. He is finally adopted by a childless couple, although poor by most standards who became loving parents with great values and standards that set his life in the right direction. From there it traces his acceptance and rejection by certain members of his newly acquired extended family and his development through elementary school, high school and ultimately into the job market with all the twists and turns along the way. Searching for his original identity at birth culminates in a brick wall ending... to be resolved much later in life. He eventually is recruited into the Banking Industry as a Management Trainee and has many interesting experiences in the Consumer Loans Department of many local Branches. Because of his past experience as a Collector he at one time becomes the Bank's roving collection /repo person and some of the situations he relives are both entertaining and worth a chuckle.
About the Author
Brian.L.Coventry currently resides in Western Quebec, Canada. Now a retired Bank Manager and having worked in the Financial Services Industry for over 40 years he has many experiences with the best and the worst of mankind. Through his works he would like to share his many experiences, the laughter, the pain and the joy of life that some of us can identify with. Brian and his wife Barb of 41 years and their adopted son Ian love music,books,fishing,hunting and good food. Brian loves to try out new recipes and add his own touches to existing ones. When he's not cooking. he's fishing, hunting, playing the guitar and of course, writing novels....
