The students took turns holding the kittens and feeding them, because they had to be fed very often. Mrs. Jones took them home with her each evening. She did worry, however, that the school principal might ask her not to bring the kittens to class anymore and she wondered how she would feed them if that happened. One day, when she had just begun to feed Oreo on her lunch break, the bell rang and the students came pouring into the classroom. She asked one of the students to grab her "read-aloud" book and hold it so she could read to the class, and still feed the frantic Oreo. Another student listened with great attention to her read the story as he fed Fluffy at his seat. Just then the principal opened the door and peeked into the classroom. He saw a class with their full attention on listening to the story that Mrs. Jones was reading, so he smiled and quietly closed the door. Mrs. Jones breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that the principal thought everything was under control and that he would allow kittens in the classroom.

About the Author
After earning a BS Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Reading Instruction, Linda taught elementary school for 24 years. She writes poetry and inspirational writing and has taught her students the writing process and to publish their own books. She is the mother of three, and grandmother of four young grandsons. Kittens in the Classroom is the true story of how Linda's third grade students took care of abandoned kittens in her classroom. Because of the student's loving care the kittens survived, had many exciting adventures, and became wonderful pets! Linda and her husband live in Tulsa, Oklahoma with their two cats.
