This book is a collection of poetry and songs written at various times in the author's life concerning the love of his family and close friends, and  experiences while serving in the U. S. Army durning World War II.


About the Author

London Lewis Gore, the author, is a World War II verteran serving front-line duty in a Sherman tank with the 5th Armored Division after the Utah Beech landing in France.  Living through the shelling of the many batles were like living through nighttime thunderstorms with lightning striking withing a few feet all around the tanks.  London was born 1923 at Ash, Brunswick County, North Carolina.  He attended Brunswich county schools finishing the eighth grade.  He helped on the family farm until joining  U. S. Army in 1941, a few months prior to Japan's attack on  Pearl Harbor.  After serveral base assignments he boarded ship and headed to France to help liberate the people from German rule.  After  war he returned to NC and worked in the timbering industry.  He met and married Ellen, his first wife and settled in Sumter, SC.  He has two daughters and several grandchildren.  London loves flying and bought himself a plane to enjoy his hobby.  He continued flying util 1993 when his health deteriorated and the skies got too crowded.  His love for music and his guitar kept him busy playing with country bands and local square dances.  His guitar and singing is a hobby which he still enjoys today.  London currently resides in Shallotte, NC with Mary, his 2nd wife and participates in senior events as well as bluegrass events.
