I'm the author of "Hidden in a Pillow". My sister, Stella, has written me an email rating my newest novel of which I have written and I wanted to share this with you, my readers.
Congratulations...on your newly released novel...Hidden in a Pillow published through www.authorhouse.com. I just finished reading this action filled exciting book in which each chapter holds the reader captive with wonderful visual encounters of events (some of which are true to life and some of which are fiction). The reader is anxiously trying to figure out what is true facts and what is fiction. Only the author (Brenda Croan) knows for sure. Since I am Brenda's sister, I am the only one who even comes near to knowing the true facts. Brenda, you deserve a Five Star rating on this latest book in your series of other published books (Salt Mountain Girl, Return to Salt Mountain, Buckeye Hollow, Home Sweet Home, and Salt Mountain Girl Cookbook, A Taste of Country. About the Book
The year is around the 1890’s. Several business men had gone to the small southern Virginia town of “Salt Town” to purchase some land to build a large chemical company in the town. Salt Wells were dug and the producing and the distribution of Salt began. Around the year of 1901 a young childhood romance developed between Arthur “Art” Thomas and Laura Bell Gillespie. The author takes her readers through both Arthur’s and Laura Bell’s young and adult lives. Arthur and his childhood friend, Jimmy “Jim” Johnson, grow up together.They get drafted into the Army together, they get married around the same time together, they both become Preacher’s and have their own church. After Arthur comes home from the Army, he gets entangled with a young Gypsy Woman who is a “Fortune Teller”. She tells Art’s fortune and she places a curse a “Witchcraft Spell” upon him and she tells him he will “Die” if the curse he has been placed under is not lifted from him. Arthur’s and Laura Bell’s young daughter “Brenda” grows up and becomes an “Author”. Brenda has many visions and dreams for her family and for “Salt Town”.
About the Author
Brenda was born and she grew up in “Buckeye Hollow” near the small town of “Saltville”. Brenda was born a “Virginian” and she lived her young life growing up in Virginia. Brenda has lived the most of her adult life as a “Hoosier” in Indiana. Brenda became an author and she has written and self-published three books and one cookbook for her family and hometown in Southwestern Virginia. Brenda has written many articles where has been published in her hometown’s local newspaper. Brenda has also written some poetry. One of her poems is published in a book of poems by Poetry.com. The year of 2006 Brenda received her hometown title of “Salt Mountain Girl” presented to her by the Mayor of Saltville, in her hometown. Brenda comes from a large family of fourteen children who were all born with the help of “Mid-Wives” in the same house in Buckeye Hollow. Brenda and her husband Charlie lives on a farm in Indiana.
