About the Book

I grew up in a society more like inner-city. A society that would not offer me the opportunity to rise and be what I wanted to be. A society where from the cradle, I knew I was responsible for whatever I became in life. That no father, no mother, no uncle, no aunty, no brother, no sister, no friend was responsible for my future. I knew from the cradle that whichever way I defined my future was the way it was going to be. Thus, early in life, I garnered audacity, rejected the status quo, worked against all odds, broke all protocols and learnt to stage my own plays in the theater of life, believing that I would be whatever I wanted to be… My name is Amala Mmaduka. I am an undergraduate in an African university. I was born in a family that did not have much money. However, I grew up having this belief that if I should excel in life, nobody would remember where I came from, and nobody would rate me based on my age, size or the color of my skin… I equally realized early in life that the world always talked: if you acted, they would talk; if you folded your arms, they would talk. Thus I stuffed up my ears, daring what the world would say, and learnt to do what I ought to do and what I loved doing, knowing full well that the life is mine and no one else… Owing to my strong will and resolute nature, I was called stubborn and useless, but it did not take me forever to know one would be remembered in life either by the problems he solved or by the ones he created… I decided to be useful to myself and to humanity; to free myself from the yoke of poverty; to leave a legacy and not a vacancy. And that was how I discovered my real self. Now, I will have you know this: the days of been a doctor or a lawyer are over. There are many First Class materials roaming about the streets searching for jobs that had long ceased to exist. You now go to school so you will not be called an illiterate and so as to get discipline - not necessarily to get rich through it. You should learn to look beyond the degree. Do not allow your certificate to deceive you. There is something you have inside of you which the entire world is looking for… In the journey along the success path, I moved on with divinity. I knew a doctor could help me sustain life; a lawyer could help me defend life; a soldier could as well help me protect life; but only God could give me a meaningful life… Having read this far, I have the conviction you would love to follow me into my world; the world of a young man who grew up watching his parents suffer in penury, and vowed to bring a change. The world of a young man who grew up in hunger, lack, starvation and deprivation, and vowed to change the terrain. The world of a young man who would count his first pay more than ten times as if counting it that much would double the money… I thank you so much for squeezing out time out of your tight schedule to go through the story of a young man who is still paying his dues… Turn the page and let’s get started… 'A must read!' - Myne Whitman, Author of A HEART MEND, Bellevue, Washington, USA. 'A God Sent!' - Ifeanyi Samuel Nzeribe, Brandon University, Canada. 'A lasting legacy... A sure bestseller... Nations of the world need to read this blessed book by this amazing son of Africa... He will accomplish much in his determinant destined life...' - Denise Borchers, Perth, Western Australia. 'Amala Mmaduka is the greatest Nigerian youth yet to be discovered...' - Udenwe Obinna Michael, IMT Enugu Nigeria.
