About the Author

I was born in Northampton, the second child of Bill and Nora Britten, and have lived locally all my life.

My childhood was very happy in spite of trials and tribulations.  It was a childhood of freedom to roam and play but my parents imposed discipline and obedience to their rules of behaviour.

I was educated at the Northampton School for Girls after winning a scholarship.

My early teenage years saw the start of War and at the age of 16 I became a GPO telephonist.  I enjoyed the work and stayed there until my marriage 1950 so I shall be celebrating my Diamond Wedding in April this year, 2010.

I always enjoyed living in Northampton and we now live in a lovely part of Northamptonshire, Great Brington.

I have two daughters and a granddaughter  in the nursing profession.  My other granddaughter teaches French and Spanish at a Rugby school.  I am also a great grandmother for the second time.
