I looked up at my rear view mirror; It was the boys from the garage. They had just hit me from behind. I could not believe it. Before I could think what to do, they came at me again. Bang, my head hit the steering wheel. I was unaware at the time of where I was, and what I was doing. Panicked with shock I managed to pull away from the car behind me and turn on to the carriageway. Unknown to me due to my terrified state of mind I was heading the wrong way down the dual carriageway. Confused... Headlights on my side heading toward me. Bang, The car jerked out of control. I felt my neck snap and my stomach burst and I gasped for air. I sat in the car, frozen in shock, not knowing whether I was in any pain, or still alive. I gripped hold of reality and felt a warm liquid trickling down my face. I touched my cheeks and looked at my hand. It was covered in blood.
I opened the car door to get out but could not move. My arms seemed okay; I just couldn’t move the rest of me. My feet were not visible. Both my legs were dead from my waist down. My head was spinning, I was dizzy. I gazed to the left side of the window and saw a man getting out of a BMW. He just stood away from me, shouting,
‘Oh my god, oh my god! What have I done?’

About the Author
Elizabeth Boudreaux lives in Wales. She worked as a senior carer looking after the elderly for several years. She was studying childcare. Her ambition was to become a qualified nursery teacher until her hopes and dreams came to a halt. She was attacked by joy riders while she was driving her car.
