The Favored and the Lost Ones

The only thing that Albert, fifteen years old, and Melvin, thirteen years old, really did outside of school, home was karate school and bike riding. We would hang out with the neighbor kids and play basketball whenever Roylee, our father, wasn't drunk and that wasn't often. To eat us siblings would often go into the neighbor's yard and eat Miss Rusty fruit tree, a neighbor that grew fruit trees. A lot of times we had to eat the fruit because Roylee had stop buying groceries every week and I hated when we had to borrow form neighbors. Roylee didn't want his kids Albert, Melvin, Karen, Frankie eating his food. At the age of eleven Karen had stop eating in the house. Karen would slide under Millie's car, our mom, and would eat so that Roylee wouldn't see her. Often when Roylee would come in the house the sound of Roylee voice would send frightened Frankie and Karen to the toilet at the same time and hide out in the closet until Millie came for them. Roylee cause so much stress and fear to the family that he would come home form having a bad day at work and see the wrong child watching the television and in such a rage he would toss the television out the front door.
