...I finally felt the nest and was able to slip the large bag up over it. I took another step higher and started sawing the limb above the nest. My wife screamed and let go of the ladder. A large moth had somehow gotten inside her head net and was flapping against her face. You have to know my wife's fear of bugs to realize the gravity of the situation. I couldn't look down and couldn't have seen anything anyway in the dark. But I could hear her screams as she was trying to tear her coat and head net off. I was still standing on step number seven of an eight-step ladder with a hornet nest in my hands. The ladder was shaking badly, probably from the influence of my vibrating knees. It would just be a matter of time before that ladder would give `way leaving me hanging on a limb with the nest. ...and another segment from the book: It was approximately fifteen miles from Wilson Ford to our house, so darkness enveloped us before we were halfway home. As the daylight faded, so did our bravery. We began sliding a little closer together for reassurance. Suddenly, Dad slammed on the brakes, bringing the truck to a stop in the loose gravel. He opened his door, jumped out, picked up handfuls of rocks, and threw them toward the darkness at the edge of the road. The three of us boys were terrified as Dad was yelling, “Scat! Get out of here!!” Dad then jumped back into the truck and took off like he was in a drag race. Lawrence, Leonard, and I kept watching over the tailgate expecting some monstrous cat to emerge from the dust clouds trying to attack us.

About the Author
Larry Bullard resides in a rural area close to the small town of Timewell. There is a favorite local saying that, “Time spent in Timewell is time well spent.” Most residents, although somewhat partial, will agree with that statement. Many of the memories shared in this book were created in and around Timewell.
This is Larry's first attempt at writing anything more involved than a letter or a note on a Christmas card. Writing a book report in high school English class was a daunting challenge, similar to having a wisdom tooth pulled.
Larry has been involved in farming most of his life. Although retired from the Department of Corrections, he still enjoys the headaches of a small farm utilizing older machinery. He has a variety of interests including deer hunting and making rustic furniture.
Larry is a member of the Timewell Baptist Church. He loves spending time with friends and family, especially his five grandchildren: Devin, Kylie, Hope, Taryn, and Josiah.
