About the Book

This book contains a two-fold purpose: it shares the experiences of an African woman who developed from powerlessness to great empowering heights, and it also attempts to communicate to the world the experiences and stories of the many voiceless African women and their children. The book is an introduction to a five year on-going research on the African Women and Psychology of Oppression. The contents are mostly stories, beliefs and philosophies of African women. They are true experiences. Some of them are breathtaking; some are heartbreaking.

About the Author

Ngozi, popularly known as NG, is an Igbo woman from Igbo-Ukwu, the ancient city of Eastern Nigeria where bronze and other archeological discoveries were found. She refers to herself as the child of the world village. NG is an early schooler who has emerged as a brilliant scholar and author. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Nigeria Nsukka receiving the Indira Gandhi award as the most outstanding female graduate in 1998. She has taken up the challenge of working with and for African women and children. She joins other women to make this mission a reality. NG migrated to United States in 2003 in her search for safety, emancipation, liberation and empowerment. She is a motivational speaker, an international educator and a human rights activist for women and children

NG received her masters degrees and doctorate from Loyola University Chicago. She loves and enjoys learning. She calls herself “Sophia”. She loves to see others develop and become their best. Accordingly, she spends time motivating and helping others, especially women and girls. She helps them develop their self-empowering abilities. NG has developed and uses the program of Critical Thinking and Internal Balance (CTIB) as a tool in her mission with African women. She believes that women have enormous potential but certain socio-cultural and cogno-traditional practices prevent them from becoming their best.  Ng and many other African women believe that the salvation of Africa lies in the hands of women, and together they will lead Africa’s children to the promised land where freedom, justice and equality will reign.
