A layman’s guide to his mind

I have long wondered about how my mind was constructed, and how each function interacted with the rest. My thinking had reached an impasse, since I had no structure on which to hang my thoughts. I then realised the similarity between how a large-scale computer system was constructed and my notional view of my own mind. I then began to wonder if we could take a known computer software structure and map our mind onto it. On further thinking I was struck by the similarities between how a computer works and how our head works. The likenesses were remarkable, and led me to believe that now computers had an intelligence to equal that of the human mind (a modern computer system can now beat a modern Grand Master at chess), and as the head has a very similar hardware and software construction.
The next step was to realise that I.T. terminology was an excellent way of describing psychological problems. Most readers would have trouble defining a psychosis or neurosis, or indeed the difference, BUT using IT terminology it's easy: the first is a hardware bug and the second a software bug!
The last step was the realisation that whilst man had created a known, complex software environment for running large-scale computers, the structure of our own personal software (our mind) was largely unknown.
So, would it be possible to map onto a known computer software structure our mind's functionality; thereby producing a logical, understandable structure for our minds?
It is, therefore, a psychological work describing the structure of our mind and a personal philosophy when describing the contents of my mind.

For many years professional psychologists have written books about our personal mental make up. It also examines your own character and personality and explains why you are what you are. This book further explores how we speak, how we remember things, and how we interface with our five senses and with external media such as books and electronic information systems. It also explores our belief systems, why they change as we mature, and why they contain apparent dichotomies. By reading this book, you will fully understand how and why your mind functions and enable you to understand the character and behavior of others. This will enable the reader to fully understand why others say and do , as they do.
About the Author
Terry is married with three grown- up children,and a dog named Sherry. He enjoyed a successful career managing and developing hi-tech companies before settling down as an independent consultant. During this time he developed a keen interest in people, what problems they had, what development needs were required and how he could help them to maximise their own personal and business development . He also attended many American and English programs aimed at achieving an understanding of our individual personality and how we were effective (or ineffective) as managers. Further courses on group psychology and boardroom behavior followed. He became intensely interested in these topics and was acutely aware that the professional psychologists employed as course instructors had a relatively shallow understanding of our mental make - up. Terry therefore concluded that an increased understanding of the minds structure and content was needed and spent many years thinking about the human mind, it's structure and it's contents.
