Four Tails

Story 1

George saw the moving shape on top of the mountain and shouted `It's a dragon!'

William said `That's rubbish!'

Mum said `That's nice dear'

Dad said `Humph!'

George said nothing. He knew it was a dragon! He just knew!

Story 2

One cold, damp morning a little mouse ventured out of a hole in the wall of an old, ruined castle. She sat down on her hind legs, wrapped her long tail around her tummy and sobbed.

Mole, tunnelling underground heard her crying.

`Oh dear, dear little mouse what's the matter with you today?' asked Mole as he came rushing along, squinting in the sunshine.

'I've lost ma squeak!' answered the mouse sniffing little sniffs with her tiny, pink nose.

Story 3

Hilda dumped her bag in the hall

Threw down her coat, sang her usual call

Story 4

The stars were twinkling in the cold night sky and the trees waved their branches in a welcoming response to her searching gaze.

A cat cried in the silence as tin cans and bottles fell out of next door's dust bins. As Kate peered through the window, a collection of grey shadows caught her eye as they swirled and meandered between distant buildings. As these dark shadows crept closer, they appeared to be moving more quickly and urgently as they passed by. Kate could hear laughter and calling to one another as if they were in a hurry. Kate called out to them but her cries were ignored as the shadows moved on.
