One day in the spring of '93, or '94, I was walking up around 55th and Market street with my brother Frankie, after having bought a couple of twenty dollar bags of powdered cocaine at some spot in that area. While walking and building, without care or concern of being in full public view, I reached into my pocket and took out a bill and made a quill with it. I then reached into my pocket again and took out one of the 'twenty's' and removed the cellophane tape that it was sealed with. Opened it, and then to my brother's mild shock and bewilderment, proceeded in taking a liberal snort of the substance up each nostril. To this he exclaimed, "Damn man! What choo think are, a Rock star or something?!" "Wha?" I responded, sincerely curious about his sudden perplexity. "You walking down na street in broad daylight, snortin nat shit like you got a right to." Then, thoroughly amused now by his analogy and relieved about for his perplexity I responded jovially, " Man, I'm a fucking addict!". "Addict or not, you can't just walk down na street doing that shit. Da cops ul lock yer ass up!' "Who gone call 'em?" "Man you crazier an a muhfucker!" "You wan some?" "Hell no, not like dat!" As accurate as that description was that I had attributed to myself, although then only amusingly, and in my addictive state not really perceiving myself as one, it was his extemporaneous comparison of me to a 'Rock star', that in my insanity, I took a certain pride and joy in. Since that's the type of life (minus the musical instruments), that my life had finally transcended to... with the odd hours, the partying, the clubbing, the 'drugging and what have you.

About the Book
A commiserating and provocative tale, Primacy is an all-important lesson of love, tragedy and inspiration as told from an urban perspective. Propagated in the latter portion of the turbulent 60's, on the outskirts of the gritty streets of Philadelphia, it is the story of a young male born in a 'dysfunctional' household and living in a less than opulent neighborhood. With an adolescent's cognizant awareness of the times and personal events, the prognosticator's life starts out on an anger-laced, emotionally charged tumultuous journey that eventually transcends both the time and the streets of the "City of Brotherly Love". Later in the story as the prognosticator becomes of age you are escorted further into his moral decadence as he takes the reader descriptively fitting into the twenty-first century, meeting with consequences and humility. Eloquently written with appropriate vernacular and speech of the situational characters, this story brings into stark visualization a vivid visitation for the reader. Primacy is an empathetic journey for the many whom have felt that they have been through trying situations and that no other soul could possibly empathize.
About the Author
Mr. Barry Wade was born in Darby, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Philadelphia. He enjoys writing immensely and plans to write other books that are inspirational and thought-provoking. Mr. Wade works securlary as a Medical Technician at a Medical Center in Philadelphia PA and uses personal and imaginative observations as the catalyst for this and future projects. When not working as a technician, Mr. Wade enjoys music and providing assistance and guidance to at-risk youth.
