Just then Thema heard a woman’s voice say, “Thema, why are you crying?” Thema looked around but saw no one. Then she looked into the river and saw the reflection of a beautiful young woman. The woman had deep brown eyes and a beautiful smile. She had long braids that encircled her face. She asked again, “Thema, why are you crying”?
Thema answered, “I have to draw water from the river, but I left my gourd in the house. I just want to go back home to my parents”.
The beautiful woman replied, “Look in the bushes behind you and you will find a black gourd already hollowed out. Use that for fetching the water. I cannot help you with your other problem; however, I can help you enjoy your life where you are”.
