About the Book

In Water Safe! Water Smart! you will read about Linda's account of nearly losing her toddler to a drowning, and realize some of her own moments of clarity that defined her role in educating others about children, water and vigilance!

4,500 people drown annually in the United States. Children under the age of five and young adults between the ages of fifteen and twenty-four have the highest rate of drowning. Males are four times more likely to drown than females. Most of these incidents occur in backyard swimming pools.

Whether you are considering putting in a backyard swimming pool or water proofing your child, Water Safe! Water Smart! will help guide you in the right direction. There are many things to consider when investing in a swimming pool, and these decision should be made based on more than just the aesthetics, where your family is at the moment, and the financial cost.

As parents, the best time to ensure your child's safety in and around water is when they're young. Jump in with Linda while she treads you through the simple skills of ensuring your youngster's ability in staying alive under five and then some...

About the Author

Linda Brown has had the privilege of teaching children and adults to swim since 1995. Her passion for swimming has only been surpassed by her enthusiasm and commitment in bringing the joy of swimming to others.

Having been raised in an active family, Linda learned to swim at the age of three, water skied by the time she was four, and competed on a swim team for many years following.

Through her own experiences in working with others in the water, her son's near death to a drowning in 1982, and her father's demise to Melanoma skin cancer in 2000, Linda went on to produce her own water safety and rescue program in 2003, encompassing everything from sunscreen to CPR, rip currents to boating.

When it comes to water, there are nine words that sum it all up for Linda and her students: "Water is a good friend or a deadly enemy!"
