When businesses fall on hard times, financially, they usually resort to measures such as payroll reduction. Payroll reduction is seen in many ways, three of which are firings, mass lay offs, and plant closings.

Review and update your resume. Also, consider a new profession. You never know, your job may be replaced with some low cost computer gadget this summer. Always be open to considering new and alternate careers. The expertise that you have required over the years may have you in a rewarding position before you know it.
Understand your financial picture. Most households resort to buying some sort of financial software to accomplish this task. Software tools such as Quicken, and QuickBooks. Placing your financial information in this format will allow for a better survival rate if you or your spouse should pass unexpected. This way the surviving spouse is not totally in the dark and can pick up and continue with as little hardship as possible.
You may come across a situation like the one I faced with my spouse. She did not want to share any financial information with me. If your significant other is keeping you in the dark concerning matters of money it may be due to your spouse having a separate agenda from you. Take heed readers, to the signs of a unwilling spouse. Understanding your financial picture as a team strengthens the marriage and the bond of trust.
Being better informed of your status financially will have you better prepared for times of misfortune such as lost of employment or a recession.
