She was born in Moncton, N.B. in 1921. The only child of Noble & Reta Renton. Attended grade school and high school and was one of students graduating from the new Moncton High School in 1938. She attended the 70th anniversary of the graduating class in 2008. Worked as a bookkeeper for Radio Station CKCW in Moncton until her marriage and then moved to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. After living in Yarmouth, the family moved to Mont Joli, Quebec and then back to Amherst, Nova Scotia. She and her husband operated Windy Mere Gift Shop at the Nova Scotia - New Brunswick border for ten years. After selling the business, she became interested in the local animal shelter and later was appointed Treasurer. She resigned from this position in 2009 and decided to write a book about the animals that she and her family had had over the years.
