The Redemption of the Realms

Steady, heavy drops of rain began to fall from the thick clouds overhead. The anger, frustration, and failure that Dalleo felt in this conflict were all present before his waking eyes. No longer could he think of tactical efforts and well-conceived plans. Pure hatred for the malicious nature of this evil foe dominated his mind and heart. Thoughts of vengeance and brutal justice flooded the very blood of his heart. The pressure in his head forced his eyes to close and his head to bow low. This emotion, this numbness, weighed heavily upon Dalleo and brought him to his knees. Focused only on the thick pressure in his head, Dalleo ceased to hear anything around him, including the near cracks and rumbles of thunder. The pressure increased. Just when the pressure was about to become too great, it vanished, and a faint, light whisper sounded through the madness and disorder. This sensation felt very similar to the disturbing restlessness he experienced on several occasions before. Yet this was lighter, or at least appeared to be lighter, considering the weight of all else around him. Also, this time Dalleo could discern a call to him through the night. Dalleo turned his head to find the person who had called to him, but the only people around were two guards scanning the nearby landscape. He turned back when he heard his name called once more by the whisper. Recalling Jessap’s insight into this experience, Dalleo took a deep breath, calmed his heartbeat, and tried to gather himself. “Dalleo,” came the whisper a third time.
