About the Book

Back in 2002 when I was told that I would possibly lose my sight to wet macular degeneration I was devastated. The central vision allows you to sew, to read books and newspapers, watch TV and see familiar faces. What a tragedy that this most precious gift might be taken from me…

We've been fortunate enough to have traveled a bit since our retirement and those wonderful memories are sealed in many photos. In fact, those photos mean so much to me that I want to share a sampling of them with you, along with some of my poetry and prose.

I have no agenda with this book, except to bring joy and maybe a smile to anyone who lifts the cover and turns each page. Joy is reaching out to touch you if you will but open your heart and your eyes.

About the Author

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

SANDRA L GRASLEY was born in Berwick PA and was truly the “farmer's daughter.” She's a real hometown girl who has found a love for travel and wants to share her thoughts and stories with you. In fact, she is an avid reader herself and has a library to be envied covering every subject imaginable. She has also gotten interested in genealogy and has researched her German roots back to a small town in the Black Forest. She was diagnosed with wet macular degeneration in 2002 and developed a sudden urge to “see” as much as she could - the world is such a wondrous and beautiful place that she wants to share her thoughts and Joe's photos - she made a bucket list and is working her way through it with much delight in each adventure. Her background included being a secretary, a Customer Services Manager, a Sales Representative and finally working for a renowned telecommunications company. She is one of those people who can do most anything from writing a poem to swinging a pick and since she has had many health-related challenges, she is especially thankful for each new day and looks at that day as another adventure.

Come join in her adventures and enjoy the photograpy provided by her partner:

JOSEPH B SMITH was born in Hanover Township PA - coal mining country, and he was also a true hometown boy. One of his father's first jobs was a coal miner and also his grandfather after immigrating from Poland. Joe joined the United States Air Force directly out of high school and was fortunate enough to be stationed in the Aleutian Islands on a special mission during the Vietnam war. After he came home, he went to work near his home for several large companies and finally retired with a smile on his face. Before his retirement he underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2000 and is very aware of what he needs to do to keep himself healthy. He had ventured into photography previously, but now he looks at taking a picture as a snapshot, a photograph or “art” and some of his photos are truly that. He enjoys the computer, is a gadget guy and loves to walk, hike and go to the community pool with Sandra.

Both of these people are just regular everyday folks with a story to tell and they wanted to share their enjoyment of life with you through art and stories and poems.
