About the Book
This story is based on a true life experience of a young black born into slavery in Central Missouri. The story was related to the local newspaper in the 1920's by Lashley Fountain Wood under True Stories of Moniteau County. He would have been close to the same age as Ruff.
About the Author
Franklin Wood grew up in central Washington State where his family has been in the Tree Fruit Growing business for over one hundred years. He served in the US Marine Corps and volunteered for the local fire department. He is now retired and interested in genealogy and history.
