About the Author
Amy Stevens is a dynamic business owner, military wife, mother, speaker, and author. During her husband's multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, she realized the fears, pains, responsibilities, and difficulties that arise for families facing War, and became determined to make the path easier for those following her in this service. She shares her story in order to encourage and inspire spouses who are experiencing the stress, frustration, and overwhelming emotions that may occur during and after a military deployment.
Amy received a B.A. in Psychology, and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling. Amy has been the Keynote speaker for various National Guard State Conferences, is a certified volunteer in Critical Incident Stress Management, and has been nominated for numerous awards, including Working Mother's "Raising a Ruckus" award and the Girl Scout's Woman of Distinction award.
Amy's first book, America's Hidden Heroes: Survival Tactics for the Families of our Military Forces, has helped thousands of military families navigate the many twists and turns of pre-deployment, deployment, family issues, spousal relationship preservation, and reuniting. This book, Happily Ever After Combat focuses specifically on marriage, and offers encouraging and tactical strategies for improving communication, respecting one another, and fostering a growing marriage during stressful times.
Amy's writing, advice, or comments have been featured in numerous publications, to include: Entrepreneur Magazine, Winning Bids Magazine, The Wall Street Journal online, and numerous newspapers, radio, and television news shows. She has been married for over 17 years, is the proud mother of two sons, and is currently very active in the Texas National Guard Family Readiness Program. Amy speaks to National Guard Family Conferences around the country, is currently the President of the Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation, and has been involved in a consulting and advising capacity on numerous family projects for the last six years.
