Papa's Chair
Laying still in their upstairs bedroom they listen for any little sound, that would tell them that Papa's up and it would be okay to go on down.
Little eyes wake so early, Mom and Dad still want to sleep,
So quietly the little ones slip from their beds and into Papa's world they creep.
His hands reach out and swoop them up, drawing them into his lap for a cherished good morning kiss,
a special time to bond with his young ones that a Grandpa would never miss.
His chair rocks slowly as they snuggle in to hear his tales of adventure and of his youth.
He shares his life's memories in dramatic fashion with a slight embellishment on the truth.
He wonders if some day they will look back with fondness on their time spent in this special place.
He smiles as he watches their reactions to his stories by the expressions on their face.
Will they remember how much I love them and how much I really care?
Will they remember the love shared in those early morning talks and stories, the special times in Papa's chair?

Heartfelt...Life Between The Lines lets you visit life through the eyes of the author, from childhood into the years as a grandfather. These poems will make you laugh, perhaps cry, but at the very least will make you slow up and be reminded of God's many blessings in your life and if a person has the love of their family and friends, you will never be poor - - but are rich indeed.
About the Author
Gerald lives with his wife Kathy in Bemidji, MN where he operates a fire and safety business. Wherever he goes in the Minnesota northland, he always runs into someone he knows and enjoys stopping to talk. He has a quick wit with a great sense of humor and is an avid storyteller.
He has a love for live theatre and over the years has acted in the local Bemidji Community Theatre productions and the Paul Bunyan Playhouse summer theatre. He has aspirations to one day write a play.
Gerald has a passion for 50s & 60s doo wop music and sports, but most of all he has a deep love for his family and friends which you will find evident in his writing.
