2001: I was at Scott AFB, IL following 9-11. One evening some of my work mates and I went into nearby Belleville to go to a local Mexican restaurant. In short order, we were seated and were served a bowl of tortilla chips and some salsa. We all grabbed a chip, dipped into the salsa, and chomped;
This was the sweetest salsa we all have ever tasted.
THIS WAS NOT SALSA, THIS WAS KETCHUP!
We made our feelings known to the server, who told us that it indeed was salsa. We told her that we were from San Antonio, where real salsa comes from, and that was not salsa. She insisted that it was salsa.
We dropped the argument and ate our chips without the "salsa."
Never mess with a San Antonian's salsa.
Just don't get me started on the dried beef and pork patties in the MREs

About the Book
Have you ever been in a place where everything is falling apart, but you felt peace? That is called the Weird Place and people arrive at this place more than one can know. Shon Powers takes a spiritual journey through his teen years, military service, and more recent trials in order to uplift others. He also uses simple rules and fictional illustrations to tell others that they are never alone in this life. Throughout the passages, readers will be introduced to his alter ego, The Ol' Gray Duck.
About the Author
Shon Powers was born in Pasadena, Texas, but has lived in Ohio, California, Germany (twice), New Hampshire, South Dakota, and the United Kingdom before returning to Texas in 1994. He is a 25-year veteran of the US Air Force who is presently a Reservist with the 433rd Airlift Wing.
He also works in the Facilities Department of West Corporation.
He has been very happily married (his lovely wife, Kamela is pictured here) for 21 years.
He gave his heart to Jesus in 1986 and has served Him since.
This is his first book.
