About the Book

This story is based on a girl wise beyond her years. She is thrust from one culture in which she has grown up into another where she must navigate a new territory. In the end, her instincts tell her she must stay true to herself and what she believes in, and this helps her to succeed. Based on the premise of teenagers’ lives around the world facing the same issues: And how loving and caring they can be despite the challenges and setbacks they encounter as they journey toward womanhood.

The opportunity to move to the city to attend high school will allow her to have another experience in life. But it will put her totally out of her comfort zone. Kellia faces what most teenagers do when attending a new high school where they have no friends. She has ups and downs, especially at the school she is attending. She encounters problems with her cousins as well, who are embarrassed by her country ways and manners, and who try to make her life unlivable. Kellia is ready to give up the purpose of her being in the city and wants to return to the village where she misses the love of her family. She reconsiders her decision, however, and manages to stay for the sake of her education and become emotionally stronger.

About the Author

This story was written based on how teenagers’ life can be different around the world; how loving and caring they can be. After moving to the USA and being exposed to a totally different culture, the Author was inspired to write a story about how two different backgrounds with different lifestyles, and morals values can be combined to reflect one particular teenager's life (the best of both Worlds, a trace of traditional vs. modern society); a life where a teenager is very humble, selfless, independent, unfussy, giving, helping, smart, compassionate, loving to her family and to people she meets; at the same time she has a very close and open relationship with her family.

The main Character's, Kellia, life can be an example of what might be found in certain social classes with strong traditional values (such as her moving to her uncle house) while Christmas’ celebration (buying gifts, decorating the tree), having family’s dinner, going to the park, and having open relationship with her parents are some examples of what might be found in some social classes and modern society. Those aspects in her life are what make the Sweet and loving Kellia a sweet, loving, and unique story.
