"Over there", said a voice. Slim looked up and for a moment, he could not see the sun. A very big bird was flying over and landed on Slim's head. It was an eagle. The eagle told Slim, "My name is Sky Full of Feathers." Slim told the eagle, "You are blocking my sun." The eagle said, "The sun is not yours!" Slim said, " Would you please take BB the crow to the corn field?" And the eagle and the crow left.
Slim looked up at the sun and reached as high as he could. He told the sun, "I love you. You are so warm and bright." The sun smiled back and said, "You make me very happy Slim. I hope you live 2,000 years." When he looked back down, he saw some flowers growing on the ground below. Such pretty colors. "Do you have names?", asked Slim. They said, "I am Lily, I am Daisy, and I am Daffodil." Then they asked, "Slim where are your leaves?" Slim said, "What are leaves?" The flowers answered, "The flat green parts a plant uses to catch the sun." Slim said, "I sure would like to catch the sun. How do I get leaves?"

This is a story of a tree named Slim and his furry and feathery friends and his obsession with the sun and a lesson to be learned about sharing and friendship.
About the Author
The author has been writing stories since 1987. This is the first of many children stories to be published. He has travel from the Andes Mountains into the Amazon Rainforest. Also through the East Coast and Midwest, Great Lakes into Canada. Admiring nature and drawing inspiration for writing short stories about fictional natural events. This book was inspired by the beautiful nature settings of The Low Country of South Carolina.
