About the Book

Save the Seeds is a simple picture book that explains the significance of saving and growing the precious gift of faith.  Written with simple illustrations and through the viewpoint of Benny the bean seed and Iris the flower bulb, this is an inspiring story about hope, salvation, and responsibility as Christians.  Benny, Iris, and the brother and sisters who tended the little garden one spring learn the valuable lesson of why their mother saved the seeds each year.  In an ever-changing world, it is becoming more and more important to preserve the heritage seeds of our faith, to save those morals and principles, which we first learned from those who exemplified the love of God.  Spreading the Word of God by telling others about the love of God and being an example of His love is just like planting tiny seeds.  Everyday is a good day to be a gardener for Christ and to plant seeds of our faith.  Children of all ages will be delighted to meet Benny and Iris and spend time in their small garden, reading their simple story about growing faith.  There are many lessons to be learned from this small garden.

About the Author

Kathy Bingham Powell is a preschool teacher from North Carolina, a loving wife of over thirty years, and the mother of three grown children.  She received the inspiration for her book, Save the Seeds from her mother, Edith Bingham.  After the story of her original experiences in the garden were published as a  daily devotion in the Upper Room Devotional Guide, she decided to expand the story into a children’s picture book.   Before deciding to write and illustrate her own book, she has been committed to creating a Tiny Seeds Library, an expanded collection of children’s picture books to represent Biblical teachings.  In addition to this she is currently working on a Daily Seeds devotion guide for parents and children of all ages in an effort to expose others to scripture and enable them to read through the Bible in one year.  She has also played an active role in her church community garden by starting the “Sow-In-Love Tendergarden” (SILT) program.  Save the Seeds was written with the hope that others would understand their own responsibility to save and grow their faith by sharing scripture and spreading the love of God throughout the world, one seed at a time.  She believes that every day is a good day to plant seeds of Christian love and hopes that others will enjoy hearing her true garden experience from the viewpoint of Benny the tiny bean seed and Iris the flower bulb.
