Nicole was only seven years old, but she had an imagination as big as the sky. Sometimes at school, she would sit in class and daydream of a far away place.....a mystical place with beautiful whispering meadows and powerful waterfalls under beautiful blue skies. Magical butterflies would change color as they grazed a flower while hundreds of songbirds would sing in harmony which could be heard for miles away. A place where only magical creatures lived.....creatures as big as her imagination dared to dream.....a place where she could play and sing and be herself.
She often wondered if a place like that really existed. Probably not, she thought to herself as her teacher erased the chalkboard from the day's earlier assignment. Miss Kathy, as the children knew her, was a wonderful teacher. She came to the school as a new teacher only last year, and Nicole liked her right away. She was a tall lady, still young as compared to some of the other teachers, with beautiful blond hair and fair skin and eyes as blue as the ocean. She wasn't like a real grown-up, Nicole thought to herself, but more like a.....well, kind of like a big kid. Miss Kathy always encouraged us to use our imaginations....."which can take you to fabulous places and to see wonderful things" she would say! Little did Nicole know, how right her teacher was.
