About the Book

What happens when a young man makes a very joyful, but very bad decision, which catapults his life into ecstasy and sorrow? Yet what if you too thought it logical to write your resume big on the living room wall, charge two full baskets on a shopping spree at L-Mart, think buying a rocking chair will save the relationship with your cousin, and actually believe you can get away with it all; outsmarting the medical community, employers, family, and even yourself?

What Jonathan Lethem’s novel Motherless Brooklyn, does for Tourette Syndrome, Ron N. Wallace accomplishes in You Can’t Sleep in Restaurants. Reading this novel brings a feeling of actually experiencing Schizoaffective Schizophrenia. Wallace’s novel is compelling, sympathetic and insightful. He keeps his readers intrigued as they follow David England’s plunge into a horrific world of confusion and chaos. A must read! It gave me hope.

Jason Stewart/Librarian

Ron N. Wallace has created an insightful, realistic and compulsively written novel, You Can’t Sleep in Restaurants. He takes us along a tumultuous path, showing the reader what happened the week David England risked his sanity. I felt compelled to turn the pages of this extraordinary story of one man’s courageous choice to define his own identity. I felt his anxiety, pain and desperation; paralleled with joy and humor! For who knows, perhaps in all of us there exists the possibility to be driven off the edge. An excellent novel with a unique perspective. An important read.
