About the Book

This unique poetry collection should emotionally involve the reader.  The range of subjects is diverse and covers many aspects of life which most people should be able to identify with in some way.  Avril writes in no particular style but prefers to write from the heart about what has inspired her to produce a particular poem.  Her inspiration comes from life itself – the highs, the lows, the rights and wrongs and most of all about allowing emotions to stimulate her ideas and let her pen take her wherever it needs to go.

This collection is unusual in that it offers a more eclectic and thought provoking mix which should offer something for everyone’s poetic preferences, Hopefully each reader will find something which intrigues them or touches them emotionally.  Avril’s style of writing refuses to be abstract, preferring to write true to her heart.

Because many of the poems are expressions of her own life experiences, people who have gone through similar situations may find they can connect with the verse and with the author.   If emotion is something you can embrace honestly, you might be inspired by her openness and willingness to let you share in her life.

About the Author

Since she was a teenager Avril has used poetry to express emotions freely. Putting her deepest emotions on paper has always had a cathartic effect, especially during traumatic times. Drawing from her own life experiences or those of others, Avril paints many landscapes of life’s emotions with her words.  Readers of Avril’s poetry have intimated how therapeutic they can be in stirring emotions they thought buried and forgotten. She ran her own computer typesetting and graphic design business for over twenty years, until her spiritual way of living led her to become a Counsellor Therapist, graduating in 2003 with a Masters in Counselling Studies. One can never really walk in anyone else’s shoes, but with deep empathy and a willingness to help and understand their issues a deep relationship with others can occur, some of which have inspired her to write this poetry.

Having been included in several anthologies since 2000 Avril has now decided it is time to unveil her own collection.  Most of her poetry is biographical because of her own life experiences, and when inspired she allows the pen to take her on the journey. This organic process allows Avril to release whatever emotion she is feeling at the time, enabling the reader to catch a glimpse of her life story through her poetry.  Other inspirations may be people’s stories, her gift of reading a situation unfolding in front of her, and by her love of nature and animals.  She keeps a notebook with her at all times and likes to write in the moment if possible, or at least log it, for later attention.

Whether it be happiness, sadness, spiritual enlightenment, grief, love of life, of family, friends, or love of nature – you will find it all in this collection.
