Patapsco is a novel that fictionalizes the life of the Early American scientist, Benjamin Banneker. It is written in a style that approximates the language of the Eighteenth Century. While the characters and events are both real and imagined, the accomplishments of Banneker are historically accurate.

About the Author

This author has fictionalized the life of the Eighteenth Century African American scientist Benjamin Banneker in a language approximating that of his time. He is able to carry the reader through the intellectual, creative and fantasy life of this early American genius in a manner that allows you to identify and empathize with him.  In the novel, B. Banneker lives in and through his dreams which transport him back and forth  between his era and that of the ancient Egyptian sage, Imhotep.

The author also succeeds in making the reader privy to the internal life of his protagonist. It is advisable that extended periods of time are set aside to spend in PATAPSCO.  Such is the intriguing quality of this novel of Benjamin Banneker.

E. Landon Hobgood spent his childhood, back and forth, between Washington, D.C. and rural North Carolina. He was educated in those locales as well as, Verona, Italy, Luxor and Aswan, Egypt and New York City.

E. Landon Hobgood is a member of, the National Writers Union, the Harlem Writers Guild and the Hurston/Wright Foundation.  His permanent residence is in New York City.
