"On June 3rd 1995, Concord aircraft while on landing roll at JFK airport New York City, hit and ingested a Canada geese into engine#3 which had an uncotained failure causing parts to go to engine#4. Both the engines were destroyed. Flames and smoke were seen coming from both the engines. Aircraft was towed to gate. Cost of damage was $9 million. Aircraft remained out of service for 5 days. New York Port Authority paid $5.3 million in compensation for loses''.
"Basically , to eliminate the bird strike , there are three ways , 1.move the birds out of aircraft's way, 2. move the aircraft out of the bird's way or 3.redesign the aircrsft to make it more bird and wild life resistant''.
"Aerodrome controller should keep a watch on any significant bird activity observed in the vicinity and pass this information to other ATC units and airtraffic in the vicinity. Upon any information for significant bird hazard , an ATC unit should issue advisory information on pilot reported , tower reported, radar observed and pilot verified bird activity''.

Bird strike is a common threat to flight safety, which can often be catastrophic.Birdstrike means a collision between a flying bird and the aircraft. Bird strikes cost $1.5 billion to $2 billion in damages worldwide and $600 million only in USA. Bird strike requires more investigative attention and positive analysis to reduce these incidents.
Flight safety is the main objective of all the aviation organizations and aviation professionals. About the Author
The author , Rashid Ahmed , is a free lancer writer and a well experienced and qualified ex-air traffic controller of Civil Aviation Authority, Pakistan. He has successfully attended various basic and advanced air traffic control and airport management courses from France, USA, Pakistan. He have extensive knowledge and experience as an air traffic controller , airport manager, air side manager and as a member of acciedent/incident investigation team. His prime feild of interest, beside air traffic control, is flight safety, which inspired him to write and convey his knowledge onward.
