Before he fell asleep, Sisera told her. “Stand at the door of the tent and if any one comes by and inquires if you have seen a man or not, you shall tell him no, there is no man around here.”
Jael only nodded and waited for the man to go to sleep. She knew that he probably needed rest and sleep after the long trek trying to escape the Israelite army. It didn’t take long before he was sound asleep. He was a noisy sleeper as she could hear him snoring. The woman slipped out of the tent and pulled up one of the tent pegs.
Jael knew she needed to hurry before her husband came home. He would protect Sisera. What she had to do she had to do quickly. She found a hammer and went back into the tent.
Sisera was still sound asleep. She crept over to the mat where he was laying and carefully placed the tent peg gently on the temple of his head. Then she raised the hammer and nailed the tent peg right through his head and into the ground. The man never moved nor even moaned.
