About the Book
In his book, "The Doc's Stories", Dr. Patrick Dwyer combines the art of storytelling with his first hand experiences of life as a physician. As an Obstetrician Gynecologist for over forty years, Dwyer has an innate ability to speak candidly about a specialty so intriguing to the masses. Having practiced medicine from the days of the house call up until the onslaught of medical malpractice, in "The Doc's Stories" Dwyer captures the hilarious and heartwarming tales of practicing medicine for the greater good.
About the Author
Patrick J. Dwyer, M.D. was born in the Bronx, NYC in 1939 and died after a long battle with prostate cancer in August of 2009.
A Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist, it is estimated that Dr. Dwyer delivered over 9,000 children during his successful career that took him from New York to the Gold Coast of Connecticut to Virginia and then finally to his home of 37 years at the Jersey Shore.
Golf, trout fishing, skiing, jogging as well as cross stitching and needlepoint were his hobbies. He enjoyed public speaking, and he loved his hunting trips to Saranac Lake, NY, but his main love was always his family. He met his wife Patricia on a blind date, they married in 1963, and together they had five children and fifteen grandchildren (with more on the way).
Known for his sense of humor, his quick one-liners, his bow ties, his generosity, his talented hands in the operating room, and for his love and devotion for his family, Dr. Dwyer will be always be remembered fondly.
