Students of the Word have gained a clear, Biblical understanding of many of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, but the visions of the seals and the trumpets have been the "stepchildren" of prophetic interpretation. With these two, there has been an inexplicable departure from the principle of letting the Bible interpret itself.
Though hoary with age, an interpretation that rests on nothing more than human conjecture is not worthy of confidence. Inevitably, it leaves many unanswered questions and unresolved problems.
Though new and exciting to lovers of esoterica, an interpretation that rests on a complicated, imprecise, subjectively applied system of literary analysis is evocative of Hans Christian Andersen's story, "The Emperor's New Clothes." And it still leaves many unanswered questions and unresolved problems.
There is adequate evidence in the Bible itself that God designed it to be its own interpreter. The purpose of this book is to give the Bible a fair chance to explain in literal terms the interpretation of the symbolic visions of the seals and the trumpets.
The book of Revelation captures the imagination to a greater extent than any other book of the Bible. But many lay it aside as being too hard to understand. Fortunately, when one follows the Biblical method of study, it becomes understandable and thrilling.
Jesus pronounced a blessing upon the one that reads, "and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand" (Rev. 1:3).
The fulfillment of prophecies in Revelation will affect your life. Indeed, "the time is at hand" for the fulfillment of prophecies that will affect the life of every man, woman, and child on this planet. The wise will be informed and prepared for what is coming.
The Holy Spirit will guide you. The challenge to understand the book of Revelation may look overwhelming, but everyone can start with the essential first step—prayer for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus gave a perfect model of how to study the Bible. Luke explains His method of Bible study as follows: "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself"(Luke 24:27).
Why did He approach His subject in this way? And why should we follow His example? The manner in which the Bible was written makes this approach a necessity. The Bible is not organized into chapters that explain one subject after another in some logical sequence. Instead, over a period of fifteen to sixteen hundred years, about forty different "holy men of God" wrote the sixty-six books of the Bible. Under these circumstances, it is inevitable that more than one Bible prophet will have shared vital information on the same subject. Therefore, the Bible student must bring together from "all the scriptures" all the statements that pertain to the subject he is studying.
Isaiah supports this method of Bible study. He explains it in these words: "Whom shall he [the Lord] teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little" (Isa. 28:9, 10).

Refusing to become entangled in the complex confusing, and contradictory methods of Biblical interpretation that abound, the author kept her eyes and ears open to the obvious meaning of the words of Scripture. She followed the method of interpretation revealed in the Bible and explained in the first chapter of this book. The author is a lay person of long experience in her walk with the Lord and in the study of His Word. Her highest credentials consist of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and day-school students that have chosen to serve the Lord. Being eighty-one years of age, she qualifies as the "Grandma Moses" of Christian writers. And she is still happily occupied as a part-time teacher at the Ola Christian Academy.
