About the Book

The author reminds us that whenever bad things happen, as they will, God is always at work and we should trust Him. We should claim His promises knowing that the harsh circumstances, which the enemy designed to kill us, are to be used to shape our personalities and sharpen our skills so we can efficiently embrace God’s calling in our lives.

Just as the eagle continues to soar in a storm, we too can soar through life’s storms and disappointments by exercising faith in our Heavenly Father.

Pastor T. Messenger, PhD

“‘Soar like an Eagle’ is a collection of punchy, pertinent reflections, devotions and readings on some of life’s worst experiences. Encouraging readers to look beyond their current challenge at hand and see their heavenly Father’s Providence. This book scratches where it itches with positive affirmation of scripture, adding a fresh and insightful balance into God’s promises.”

“This book is a God sent collection of perfect anecdotes that have blessed, healed, soothed, comforted and provided hope in the dry wilderness periods of my spiritual journey. I have received answers to questions raised in my darkest hour and indeed my strength and spirit have been renewed. May God continually bless you in your ministry.” (Eclectic responses)

About the Author

After returning from a wonderful childhood with her grandparents and siblings in Jamaica, Shirley returned to live with her mom and sisters in Preston, England. This was the beginning of her teenage life which she describes as a most traumatic experience. In retrospect she says that the mental and physical turbulences of those teenage years were instrumental in her quest for God and faith. Her experience of pain, anguish and rejection heightened her search for acceptance, identity and purpose and resulted in a spiritual roller-coaster journey. She believes that God was there with her all the way, leading and guiding. The embracement of faith through grace has enabled her to soar above the numerous storms and wildernesses of her life, many of which included a variety of abusive encounters which continued into her adult life. ‘What the enemy meant for evil, God has used for good!’ Despite the enemy’s plans to kill her ‘soaring spirit’ and bridle her praise she testifies through writing; singing; and speaking that God is able! ‘He who began a good work in her shall bring it to completion.’
