About the Author
Born in St. Andrew, Jamaica, Andrew Wayne O’Brien Burgess, I has always been considered a bright and intelligent young man. All those who know him would agree that Andrew is a man of great character. He came to the USA at the age of ten. During his teenage years, he attended Elmont Memorial High School, NY and graduated as valedictorian. After graduating from college, he attended graduate school where he received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of South Florida. He then accepted a position at the University of South Florida as a Researcher. Shortly after, he married in December 1997 to his college sweetheart, Stacy Y. Jackson. He is the proud father of daughter Drew Constance, and son Andrew W. O., II.
Currently he teaches chemistry at Hillsborough High School where he inspires many young students to think positive, attend college, and be the best that they can be. Prior to joining Hillsborough High School, he was an adjunct faculty member at Pasco-Hernando Community College, but later decided to fully devote his time to his students at Hillsborough High.
While attending graduate school, Andrew decided to expand his talents by venturing out into the business world. Today amongst his many roles, he is the proud Owner/Graphic Designer of Drew’S Graphics/Arts & Crafts. This graphics business has been growing since the mid 1990s.
Andrew has experienced great inspiration and blessings throughout the years and would like to thank his parents - Vernon and Dena Ho-Shing, Aunt - Leonie “Pinks”, siblings - Sheree, Mark and Vikki, niece- Mei-Ling, In-Laws - Robert and Constance Hemingway, Marquita, Diamond, and Diamond Jr., and Church Family - Pastor and Lady Banks.
