About the Book

Liam Weir is a farmer cum cattle dealer in Northern Scotland. He lives a very fully life and thoroughly enjoys the trappings of the owner occupier, with a grand house, an adorable wife, and family. Yet his self esteem bounces up and down like a  yo–yo for he is a man with problems. Such are these problems that many would describe them as immaturity, but they are very much more complex than that.

Corporate risks, excessive gambling, and illicit relationships, shroud his life. What can he do to remove these things which threaten the fabric of his and the lives of his family. He meets a very special lady, Annita Bland, a professional mentor who is charged with the considerable task of straightening out his route through life.

The story provides the reader with an engrossing insight into arable farming in Scotland, the very interesting world of the livestock auction markets, and the heart stopping dramas in the world of the heavy gambler including the details of an infallible bet. An unparalleled insight into the life assurance consultant’s challenges and rewards.  But it is Liam Weir’s late grasp of things sexual and his role in life as the clandestine companion to scores of educated but highly frustrated married women that will make male readers cry and the female readers will wish they could meet him.

Very informative - Seriously emotional - Totally absorbing - Hilariously Funny.

About the Author

Patrick Emre now lives with his wife Christina in the beautiful island of Cyprus where they run a holiday accommodation agency and a gift shop. He was born a Scottish farmers son in 1940. He hated school except for playing in the football team, and soon after his fourteenth birthday he was allowed to leave. He wanted to grow potatoes, play football, and investigate the opposite sex. However he very soon regretted his indifference to education and suffered a degree of isolation from his own age group.

After a few years as under manager of the world’s biggest potato merchants, he farmed for a 20 year period in his own right. A surprising deviation in his life saw him working in the life assurance industry and thereby he soaked up more of the ‘stuff’ which makes up ‘the theatre of life.’

He laughs a lot and maybe has proved the saying, ‘laugh and grow fat’ – because he is a bulky chap. Once introduced to an audience as ‘This larger than life fellow.’

The idea for this book did not come from his own experiences alone, but from the many characters he met during his lifetime. The story Earthy Addictions is total fiction and those who think they recognise themselves are suffering from delusion.

His first novel The Lady Believed To Be From England is.rapidly climbing the sales charts and has been receiving rave reviews.

It doesn’t matter if you think you can,

Or you think you can’t,

You are very probably right.
