The architecture during that time supported the idea of women as a lower class gender. Houses did not have any windows, so that women could neither be heard nor seen, or see any strangers. Also, men and women had separate guest rooms. In some families, women and men would not sit together to have a meal. Men would eat first, followed by women, and then finally children. Also, the culture is full of sayings that reflect the degraded position of the women.

About the Book
This book focus on the history of mainly the women’s movement, it also reflects at the same time the domination of women through out history. It studies the movement of three Middle Eastern countries, Kuwait, Egypt, and Iran then it shows the experience of the women’s movement in the UK as an example of a Western society to distinguish to what extent these societies appreciate women. Now there are some similarities as well as some differences between the East and the West which forms the interesting part to observe the struggle of women in different cultures.
About the Author
The author has a legal background. She graduated from Law School – Kuwait University 1993, then got her Master from American University – Washington DC 1997. She worked as a lecturer at the Business Studies College until 2003 when she started studying her PhD at Durham University UK and graduated in 2008. Since the subject of sex-discrimination has been always in her thought, it was the subject of her PhD studying it from different angels, historically, religiously; culturally and legally. Currently the author teaches different subjects of law at the same collage such as Family Law and Human Rights.
