He turned off the main road and back into the housing estate and it was on another of his regular glances in the rear-view mirror that he first noticed the headlights. They had just turned off the main road as he had but seemed to be coming up behind him rather quickly. Then another car appeared and as Jenson watched on nervously the second car overtook the first and sped up towards the Bentley on the wrong side of the road.

  “Shit.” Jenson muttered.

  Suddenly the cars were upon him, one at his side and the other pressed right up to his rear bumper.

  “Oh God.” Jenson whimpered as he looked over his shoulder, the cars were trying to box him in! In panic he looked from one car to the other, quickly looking to his side then over his shoulder and back again. He couldn’t make out the drivers as the windows were blacked out but one of the cars was a Golf GTI and the other a battered old Astra. His heart was racing as he pressed down hard on the accelerator but as powerful a machine as the Bentley was it wasn’t built for speed and with the GTI right at his side there was no way he could outrun it.

  The car pressed up behind him pushed forward and nudged him on the bumper and for one horrible second Jenson thought the boot was going to pop open and the body go tumbling out onto the road. With his whole body shaking and his mind in turmoil Jenson made a decision that he would later regret; as he made it onto the country road he decided he was going to stop the car. Confronting whoever was attacking him was the only way he could see to get out of this situation so he slammed on the brakes and screeched to a stop at the side of the road. The Astra that was tailing him skidded to a stop to his rear and the GTI that had been tearing along at his side slammed on its brakes ahead of him and then quickly reversed until its rear bumper was pressed up against the grill of the Bentley.

  Sweat pouring down his face Jenson frantically looked around the car for a weapon but there was nothing; with his throat so tight he could choke the businessman climbed out of his car and readied himself for whatever was to come.

  The doors of the other two cars were flung open and three men climbed out; one a scruffy white man in a denim jacket with stubble all over his scrawny face and a closely shaved skinhead, the second a black teenager of no more than fifteen and the third a huge black man with long dirty dreadlocks and a huge gold chain about his neck, all had guns and they pointed them at Jenson as they climbed out of their cars.

  “Get on the floor motherfucker!” Dreadlocks shouted as he rushed towards Jenson.

  The terrified man was rooted to the spot in fear; he managed a small croak as the three men rushed towards him but nothing else. Skinhead reached him first and battered him about the head with the pistol grip of his handgun. Jenson dropped to the floor and was met with a kick to the ribs as he crashed down.

  “Get down you fucking queer!” Skinhead screamed with venom.

  “The keys are still in.” Jenson heard the kid confirm but he couldn’t even raise his head from the floor with the sickness he felt in his stomach.

  “Give me your fucking wallet!” Skinhead demanded, pointing the gun right in Jenson’s face.

  “Please…” Jenson managed before skinhead punched him hard in the ear.

  The world went grey for a second so intense was the pain and Jenson had to battle to stay conscious.

  “We see shit like you in areas like this all the time and you always carry money now give me your fucking wallet, now!”

  “I…I don’t have it on me, please don’t hurt me.” Jenson pleaded.

  Unfortunately for Jenson Skinhead was not one for showing mercy. He stood up straight and with his full force kicked the middle aged man in the stomach.

  Jenson couldn’t breathe, as he gasped desperately for air Skinhead and Dreadlocks threw him onto his back and started patting him down.
