About the Book

A Flower named Spirit is a moving story about a flower whose name is not arbitrary, but symbolic of a life's story.  Spirit speaks to our desire to "stay here forever", and to our amazing ability to embrace Time, which affects the ending of all things.  This story is a parable about life that radiates hope, using science as the illuminator.  It is written for children, but provides comfort to readers of all ages who have, or inevitably will, experience the loss of someone they love.

About the Author

Lois Core Humphrey was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama.  She has spent many years writing for children's plays, and puppet shows.  She has two adored sons, Zach and Jeremiah, and a wonderful granddaughter Samara and daughter-in-law, Krystal.  The inspiration for this book came when her then 7 year old son asked some tough questions after a family friend passed away.

The illustrator, Tim Towns, is a gifted artist who created the pictures that brought this story to life.  His wife Debbie and daughter Jordan provided meaningful support for the project.  Tim's intuitiveness contributed much to the warm spirit of this book, and is greatly appreciated.
