Preface
I think it is fair to say we all desire success. Now, success can be defined in any number of ways, such as an abundance of health, wealth, professional achievements, or meaningful relationships with others. Regardless of how we define success, there is a part of us always yearning to be more than we were yesterday.
As far back as I can recall, I have hungered for success, but oddly, I spent most of my life as an expert operating from the contrary in a mental state of lack and discontent. I remember back in high school, our class went through mock job interviews. When I was asked what my biggest fear was, I immediately said, "The failure to succeed." I desperately knew life could be better and I deserved better. Now, the desire for phenomenal success has always been part of my personality, but the creation is where I was getting stalled.
The Legacy Ledger was created out of my desire for success. As I soaked myself in material and conversations of personal growth, I found it to be powerful yet overwhelming. The concepts made perfect sense, but required a certain daily consciousness of the process in order to create the appropriate shift in habits and mental conditioning. Even as a member of the human development field, I have to admit there were times I really struggled to uphold it all. I needed theory to marry with utility.
Over the years, it had been recommended to me on numerous occasions to write in a journal daily. I just didn’t know what to write, didn’t see the value, and maybe even there was some underlying fear of actually owning and putting the depth of my thoughts on paper. I have to admit that I didn’t take it too seriously, and it took a while before I actually gave it a chance and created the habit.
After various tried but failed attempts of getting organized in my personal growth and the consistent suggestion to journal, I finally connected the dots with my idea of a structured journal. I looked, but I could not find such a book to buy. Recognizing the necessity of a structured format to keep myself on track, I created my own instrument. Under the structured format, consistent use was easy, and the benefits became very obvious. Eventually, I got to the point where I just didn’t feel right in the day unless I had written in my journal. My clarity, motivation, productivity, and emotional balance all improved, all of which are very important ingredients for success.
The Legacy Ledger is gleaned from a combination of personal reflection, personal conversations with peers and mentors, knowledge I’ve retained over time from books and audio programs, as well as my own life experiences. Some most influential on the list are Robert Pease, Bob Proctor, Wallace Wattles, and Dr. Napoleon Hill. The structure of this journal represents what I have found to be the core fundamentals to reaching goals and creating success. The innovation here is bringing the power of theory to the function of utility and providing a much needed fill of the gap in the personal growth industry.
I know that it is my purpose to be a teacher and help others in their journeys to create success and live their legacies. It is my desire that The Legacy Ledger brings you the success, personal fulfillment, and legacy you seek.
With gratitude and joy,
Introduction
Every one of us on this planet has a great legacy—the legacy of infinite potential to grow in our awareness of self and achieve our highest goals. Your potential is your legacy. Enhance, encourage, and embrace your legacy. Enhance your ability to see the infinite possibilities, encourage your belief in the change needed, and embrace that change in order to create the success you desire.
Success is our natural birthright. As we pursue our birthright, we select and study materials to help us; however, we often get stalled in the implementation of it all. There seem to be many tasks to organize and ideas to express, all while balancing the day-to-day activity of life. So, we need an instrument to bring the theory into utility, and the instrument is structured journaling.
The Legacy Ledger is a structured journal to plan, track, and carry out the steps to set and achieve goals and grow in our awareness of self in the process. Implementation is presented in the most fundamental, time-effective form to establish and maintain consistency of more effective habits, mental focus, emotional clarity, and motivation.
The power and benefits of journaling are great when it comes to the creation of success. To paraphrase Leland Val De Wall, the act of writing causes you to think, thinking creates an image in your mind, these images cause feelings within you, feelings drive your actions, and those actions create your results. Structured journaling promotes self-control over our thoughts, feelings, and actions in order to create the results and life we desire. Another important purpose of writing in a journal is that it establishes personal intention and self-accountability.
When you physically write down your ideas and aspirations, you have taken the first step in bringing them to reality. This action creates authenticity and familiarity within you instead of just glimpses of foreign ideas and emotions that you do not connect with. Journaling helps those ideas, inspirations, and aspirations become a spoken part of you. It also allows you to recognize trends and reoccurring thoughts, as well as see your personal growth and accomplishments when you reflect back.
