You see, I never mentioned this, but when I was two, my mom found out that something was not quite right with her. She started having all of these symptoms, and when she researched them, they led her to diabetes. At first, she did not tell my dad. Deborah was scared, and unsure of what to do. Going to the doctors was not something that she wanted to do, and according to the research, if diabetes goes untreated, you could end up going into a diabetic coma and never wake up. For a short time, she pondered this thought, thinking that if she were to die, she was ready to go to heaven because she had accepted Jesus as her personal savior. It probably would not have been a big loss to my dad who, many times, treated her mean verbally and acted as if he couldn’t care less about her. One thing put a stop to her thoughts about death – me. When Deborah’s thoughts went to her only child who was just two years old, she knew that she could not leave. If she died, Thomas would be the one raising the child. That thought alone gave my mom the courage she needed to go to the doctor; the fear of how I could have turned out. I thank God every day for my mom.

About the Book
On the outside, Christian appears to be a quiet but typical girl, but on the inside, she is anything but ordinary. Growing up with an emotionally impaired father and a loving mother has made life extremely difficult. Now, at 22 years of age, she knows what her mission in life is, and is fighting every day to work towards it, while learning how to do things like love a dad who doesn’t seem to care about anyone but himself. As Christian continues to make her way through life, she is met with much heartache and strife, while trying to find people who truly understand her. Through all of the struggles though, her belief in Christ remains strong and is the only factor that has helped her to never give up or give in.
About the Author
Christian Marks lives at home with both of her parents, Deborah and Thomas, and her rabbit. She is in the middle of pursuing her college education. Over the years, Christian has learned a great deal about people with special needs, especially those with emotional impairment like her father. Being able to reach out and help others in need is what Christian loves to do. She is a very passionate person who is determined to follow God’s will no matter what it is. Her family and the church are also extremely important to her.
