Stephanie's a beautiful young woman, with a unique opportunity to attend Law school at Yale. Leaving Mother, brother and sister in Texas. During her fourth year of college, and months away from the Bar exam. When she receives the news of her Mother's fatal heart attack, which will change her life forever. She urgently flies home, to be with her family. Its now her responsibility to take care of her sliblings. At the reading of the will, Stephanie, finds out that they own 2 homes, one on an island paradise, her fathers home located on a small island in Mexican waters. Stephanie decides to travel to this unknown place, to investigate his mysterious death. Many years the house has been cared for by a married team, who has grown accustom to living alone in this mansion by the ocean. Especially after the death of Mr. Mallory the owner. Then Stephanie and her siblings arrive. Things seem fine at first, or so she thought. Stephanie begin to notice odd looks between the caretakers, putting Stephanie on alert. Meantime she meets a rich stranger on the beach. Later she finds time to check into her father's mysterious death. The death report leaves lots of un-answered questions. No one seems to know the exact cause of her father's death. Even the town Sheriff claims not to know much. Which makes her even more determined to find answers. Later when dead birds, and homeless people, begin washing up dead on shore. Stephanie, must do whatever is necessary to protect herself and her family. She gets her detective side from her father. Once she gets her brother and sister all set up for the fall semester, she decides to visit the City hall building. Stephanie looks over the microfish from the year her father died. Since this is a small island of about 9,000 or more people, news speads fast. She receives a letter, with no return address. Telling her, if it's answers she seeks regarding her Father's death. Come alone to the marina at 8 pm, bring $250.000 in small bills. The person claims to be her father's research assistant, while working on a government project. They were working on a cure for cancer. He claims to have been out of the country when he heard the news of Roy's death. His face and parts of his body was covered, so she was unable to see his face. From what Stephanie had already peaced together, she right away believes every word that the man tells her. He tells her about her late father's research labortory, located somewhere in the house. Which the caretakers claim does not exsist. Meanwhile the stranger from the beach, turns out to be a perfect gentlemen, who will ask her out, to the dance event of the year. They both have an immediate attraction, and falls in love. She finds out that he is one of the riches bachelors on the island, and that every woman in town wants him. Which now makes Stephanie public enemy number one, according to the woman she overheared talking in the rest room the night of the party. A week later, after more deaths are found washed up on the otherside of the island. Stephanie goes out on her own to investigate. The area is located within walking distance of her home. She decides to go take a look around. Finding nothing out of the ordinary, she was all set to head back home. When she discovers a small entrance to a cave. The entrance is covered by brush. She had her head inside the entrance trying to see inside the cavern, when she is suddenly aware of someone behind her. Backing out, she comes face to face with the town Sheriff. Who tells her she is on private property, and orders her to leave at once. But this did not stop Stephanie. Going home to get her car, she drives to town to the hardware store. Where she purchases all the equipment needed to investigate the smelly cavern. Putting aside all her fears, she manages to enter the cave, and finds something unbelieveable inside. Stephanie, realizes that this was the reason the Sheriff force her away from the area before. So she must now keep everything she has seen inside the cave to herself, at least until Royal come back from his trip. Stephanie now believes she knows what happened to her Father. Later back in the safety of her home. She calls her lawyer, asking him if he knew where her father's Labortory was located. He said he would like to help, but that her mother never mentioned anything to him about a labortory, and that he had given her everything that her mother and father left her. However later that night, while trying her best to fall asleep, she suddenly remembers the key she wore around her neck, which also matches an imprint she had seen before on the basement wall in the downstairs laundry room. She quietly leaves the safety of her bed to check it out. quietly creeping down the stairs, careful not to wake the caretakers, she enters the laundry room. To her surprise, the key fits the lock. The brick wall opens to reveal an elevator, that takes her deep below the house. When the elevator finally stops, Stephanie steps into her father's Labortory for the first time. However that's short lived. When an alarm immediately goes off. Feeling like a trapped rat, she hides. When John the caretaker comes down on the elevator to shut off the alarm, he treatens Stephanie like she's the intruder. They argue until the elevator returns to the street level of the house. Angry with John for speaking to her in such a way, She tells him to move out by end of the week. He looks at her with such hate, it frightens her. She runs upstairs back to the safety of her bedroom, locking the door behind her...
