In the Lauranzano Family, EGLauranzano pays tribute to his family in the greatest way possible- he keeps alive the memory of those who have gone and gives the gift of these memories to those who came behind. Starting with his grandfather in Italy and the birth of his father there, he takes his father as the keystone, bringing to life this amazing man`s experiences with a storyteller`s flair and weaving them and those of his family into the American experience. This is not just a story of one immigrant family. Many others will be touched by their own memories and by the pride in this country while reading this wonderful saga. And the Lauranzano family forever will have a record of the great love and the great talent that grew them.

About the Author

My name is Enrico George Lauranzano. I got the Enrico part of my name when I entered the Washington Elementary School in Beverly, Massachusetts in the year 1929 when my sister Allie brought me to school for the first time and told them that was my name. Since my birth name is Americo, I will tell you later in my narrative why she did this. The George part I thought would be a cool name when I chose it at confirmation when someone told me that St George slew a dragon.The Lauranzano part was from my father, a brave and gallant man who led a life of sorrow, happiness, misery, and adventure, and who originated the Lauranzano family in this country.

   I write of my father`s life in Italy as well as here in America and his marriages and his offsprings, his sorrows and his joys. He struggled to make a life for us and I will write of his failures and his successes.

   I write this narrative because the future members of the Lauranzano family should know what happened to make their lives what it is. No matter where any of us go or do, it has to be influenced by the past. My father and mother came to America with nothing but hope and anxieties. They built a life for all of us and I will attempt to tell of this.
