Graduation day finally arrived, and Stephanie was convinced it was going to be a wonderful day. Her new white dress hanging under her cap and gown fit just right. Stephanie heard the door open. She thought it was Sarah leaving for the store. Betty was not feeling well and Sarah decided that, instead of attending the graduation, she needed to stay home with her. She heard Ralph's voice and realized he was going to come to the graduation. It had been three months since Stephanie had even heard from him. She did not care if he hadn't checked on her. All that mattered was that he was coming. She got ready as fast as she could. She heard Ralph say, “I understand. If you can't do it anymore, you just can't do it anymore.” Maybe he and Jessica had come to their senses and were finally going to get back together. Ralph's surprise for Stephanie wasn't the surprise she had hoped for.
“I am going to live with you now?” Stephanie asked.
“No, I don't have a place, I'm staying with a friend now. We gonna see about putting you in a home. I think a home is the best place for you.”
Stephanie looked at Sarah and Jessica wondering why they didn't say anything. She wondered to herself what was going on.
“We need to leave now,” Ralph said while looking at his watch. “We will figure out where to send you when we get back.”
Stephanie couldn't believe it. Where she lived seemed insignificant to them. Ralph thought a home for girls would be the best possible choice for her. Tears ran down Stephanie's face; this felt like a nightmare….
As she walked across the stage to receive her diploma, even more tears fell. Unlike her classmates, her tears were of sadness instead of joy. It turned out to be the worst day of her life.

Her dream is to inspire young girls and women alike to know that while they may be “Mis-Handled” they don't have to allow their circumstance to hold them hostage. They can choose to rise above their past, forgive those they have no control of and more importantly forgive themselves. She believes that forgiveness allows one to live freely and at peace.
